Halestorm - Bad Romance

Thursday, time for a cover.

"Bad Romance" is a song and lead single by American singer Lady Gaga from her third EP, "The Fame Monster" (2009). It was written and produced by Nadir "RedOne" Khayat and Lady Gaga. Lyrically, "Bad Romance" explores Gaga's attraction to individuals with whom romance never works, her preference for lonely relationships and the paranoia she experienced while on tour. Following an illegal demo leak, Gaga showcased the final product at Alexander McQueen's show at the Paris Fashion Week in October 2009, followed by the release of the single's cover art. Musically, "Bad Romance" features a spoken bridge, a full-throated chorus and sung lyrics about being in love with one's best friend. The song, which is imbued with elements of German-esque house and techno, as well as music from the 1980s and 1990s, was touted by Gaga as an experimental pop record. During the bridge Gaga sings a part of the chorus ("I want your love and I want your revenge") in French.

Most commentators praised "Bad Romance", calling it one of the highlights of the album. It was included in the 'best-of' lists in several media outlets such as Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, and won two Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Short Form Music Video. In 2021, Rolling Stone included it at number 482 in their updated list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In the US, "Bad Romance" peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100, and it has been certified 11-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), having sold 5.9 million digital downloads as of February 2019. It topped the charts in more than 20 countries and sold 12 million copies worldwide, becoming one of the best-selling singles of all time.

Today's version is made by the American rock band HALESTROM, from Red Lion, Pennsylvania, consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Lzzy Hale, her brother drummer and percussionist Arejay Hale, guitarist Joe Hottinger, and bassist Josh Smith. The tune was taken from thier "Reanimate: The Covers EP", released March 22, 2011, enjoy!

The Darkness - Get Your Hands Off My Woman

The British glam rock band The Darkness is playing as support act for Lady Gaga on the tour. The first thought was, how did they think here? But it turned out that she likes the band and simply asked them, Do you want to go on tour with me?

Really fun, for a little rock fox as i am, got my little rock dose. For sure, The Darkness delivers even today, after a five-year break-up. Justin sounds really good live and creates a glorious rocking on the globe, although it is most little girls in the audience.

The Darkness are from Lowestoft, Suffolk, formed in 2000. The band consists of Justin Hawkins (lead vocals, guitar), his brother Dan Hawkins (guitar, backing vocals), Frankie Poullain (bass, backing vocals) and Ed Graham (drums) and are characterised by their classic rock influences and elaborate stage performances.

The Darkness came to prominence with the release of their debut album, Permission to Land, in 2003. Backed by the singles "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", "Growing on Me", "Get Your Hands off My Woman", and "Love is Only a Feeling", the album was certified quadruple platinum in the United Kingdom, with sales of over 1,300,000.

After extensive touring in support of their debut album, Poullain left the band in 2005, and was replaced by former guitar technician Richie Edwards. The band's second studio album, One Way Ticket to Hell... and Back, was released in November 2005. The following year, Justin Hawkins departed from the band after successfully completing a course of rehabilitation from alcohol and cocaine problems. As a result, the remaining members formed Stone Gods, and continued to perform and record without Hawkins, who subsequently fronted his own project, Hot Leg.

On 15 March 2011, The Darkness announced reunion shows, with original bassist Frankie Poullain, including Download Festival 2011, and the Isle of Wight Festival 2012, and released their third studio album "Hot Cakes" on 20 August 2012

Unfortunately I did not get any good pictures, was standing too far back when these men played.

Here is the setlist:

1. Love Is Not the Answer
2. Growing on Me
3. Nothin's Gonna Stop Us
4. One Way Ticket
5. Get Your Hands Off My Woman
6. Love Is Only a Feeling
7. I Believe in a Thing Called Love
8. Love on the Rocks With No Ice

Todays tune "Get Your Hands off My Woman", The tune was released in February 2003 as the lead single from the group's debut studio album, Permission to Land. Although the single went on to win a Metal Hammer "Golden God" award for best single, it has become the band's lowest charting single worldwide. Credited to all four members of the group, the song supposedly reflected personal experiences of lead vocalist Justin Hawkins. "Get Your Hands off My Woman" became a sing-along favourite at concerts by The Darkness, in part due to its parodic obscenity. The song was covered by Ben Folds on his 2004 EP Super D.

The Darkness performing "Get Your Hands Off My Woman" Live at the Astoria in London in 2003. Available on the DVD single "Love is Only a Feeling".

Lady Gaga - Telephone

Stefani Germanotta, born March 28, 1986, known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is an American singer and songwriter. As superstar Lady Gaga is a lady that really stands out, many people talk about that she is the new Madonna, she's really on the way unless otherwise. She is the one who has a huge wardrobe (I actually lost count how many costume changes there was, many it was, one cooler than the other) and stylists like the Swedish Bea Åkerlund that makes it possible for Gaga to constantly look as if she is going to a cocktail party in another solar system as Fredrik Strage expressed himself in his review of the gig.

It is with a huge production that Gaga travels around with on the third concert tour "The Born This Way Ball" in support of her second studio album Born This Way (2011). The tour will Consist of Approximately 110 shows in Asia, New Zealand, Australia, and Europe, Followed by Latin America and South Africa towards the end of the year, and then North America beginning in January 2013th. Since I saw Lady Gaga played in Sweden last time, during her Monster Ball tour in 2010, her performances had grown to mammoth shows, it was pretty much the last time, but this is extreme. The show is set in and around a large medieval style castle, which rotates and manoeuvres throughout the show. A classical score accompanies the show's interludes, tying in with the show's dark, operatic theme. The Born This Way Ball is divided into five acts and is imbued with political and social themes such as discrimination, self-love and government control. Like a space adventure on the planet GOAT (Government Operated Alien Territory). Throughout the history, Gaga simulates giving birth from an inflatable zipper-like, which looked incredibly weird, just like parts of the audience looks like, crazy. She has incredible stage presence, where she in parts of the show is simply talking to the audience who gets the chance to ask questions, but most want to just come backstage. There is a Monster Pit in the middle to the fans who have arrived first, waited all night, dressed to 'Ball.' Every night Haus of Gaga will choose fans from The Monster Pit to come backstage for a meet and greet!
