Running Wild - Walpurgis Night

Walpurgis Night (Valborgsmässoafton in Swedish, Vappu in Finnish, Volbriöö in Estonian, Valpurģu nakts or Valpurģi in Latvian, Walpurgisnacht in German), Čarodějnice in Czech is a holiday celebrated on April 30 or May 1, in Finland, Sweden, Bohemia (Czech Republic), Estonia, Latvia, and Germany.

Today's tune "Walpurgis Night" is taken from the album American and Canadian album version of the first studio album "Gates To Purgatory" by the German heavy metal band RUNNING WILD, formed in 1976 in Hamburg. The album was released in 1984. It predates their piracy themes and has mostly satanically-influenced lyrics but also features songs with anarchic and libertarian (in the sense of European libertarianism) themes. It was in part of Gerald "Preacher" Warnecke's studies in theology. He left the band soon after the album's release to become a vicar. The album has sold over 235,000 copies worldwide. The album was reissued in 2012 by Lemon records, as well as in 2017 by Noise records.

The bonus track "Walpurgis Night" cuts off very close to the end due to the condition of the master tape on most releases.

Thundermother - We Fight For Rock N Roll

THUNDERMOTHER are back with three new members and keeps on fighting for their music with the new single “We Fight For Rock N Roll”.

The guitarist and founder, Filippa Nässil, started THUNDERMOTHER in 2009 and the band has launched two albums and played hundreds of shows since then. They’ve been on the road with artists such as Michael Monroe, W.A.S.P, D-A-D and DANKO JONES and had a sold out headline tour in Europe last year.

The former line-up with Clare Cunningham, Tilda Stenqvist, Giorgia Carteri and Linda Ström was formed in 2013 and when the four members decided to leave THUNDERMOTHER in the spring 2017 Filippa was determined to keep on playing with singer Guernica Mancini, bass player Sara Pettersson and drummer Emlee Johansson.

They had their first show together at Debaser Strand in Stockholm May 24th and were immediately acclaimed by their fans and praised by the amazed critics during one of the best THUNDERMOTHER shows to this date. Their summer is booked up with at least 17 shows in Europe at festivals such as Wacken Open Air and European Bike Week.

Arthur Brown - Fire

 

Sunday, a day where you can relax, dust off an old vinyl, sit on the couch with a cup of coffee and enjoy. This got mixed with an art visit at the "Liljevalch" along with a good friend, need to get some new vibes in my creativity. However, I was a little disappointed in this year's show, a little too much insignificant art, but that's what's hot right now i guess. Besides this it has been played some music, both new and old, but mostly old, including a really good record of Arthur Brown, got a little inspired to play it when I saw an episode of "History of Hardrock" on svtplay. The documentary raised the "Shock Rock" and other visual things that can create an effect, very interesting indeed. Thinking about Tune Of The Day would elaborate on this and play some "Classic Shock Music" in the coming Sundays.

Arthur Brown (born Arthur Wilton Brown on 24 June 1942) is an English rock and roll musician best known for his flamboyant, theatrical style and significant influence on Alice Cooper, Peter Gabriel, Marilyn Manson, George Clinton, Kiss, King Diamond, and Bruce Dickinson, among others, and for his number one hit in the UK Singles Chart and Canada, "Fire" in 1968.

Todays tune "Fire" is a song by Arthur Brown, Vincent Crane, Mike Finesilver and Peter Ker. Performed by the Crazy World of Arthur Brown, it was released as a single and on the band's debut album, also called The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. The single made #1 in the UK (in August 1968) and Canada.

The song is an example of the psychedelic rock of the period, though its lack of guitars distinguished it from many of its contemporaries. The lead instrument in this case was Vincent Crane's Hammond electronic organ, augmented by an orchestral section featuring prominent brass. The singer's opening proclamation of himself as "the god of hellfire" became a lasting epithet.
