Alice In Chains - Dam That River

This is a band that I like a lot, and like to see more of, but im afraid they just have 1 concert this year, in August at Winstar Casino, Thackerville, OK.

On March 8 Mike Starr their former bass player past away.
Members of Alice in Chains are mourning the loss of their friend and ask that the media respect their privacy - and the privacy of the Starr family - during this difficult time. Their thoughts & prayers are with the Starr family.

Baldy writes on MySpace:
As I watch these tapes from 22 years ago I keep coming back to a line Jerry wrote in Your Decision; "No one plans to take the path that brings you lower". Mike and Layne were both good people who made bad choices, and the weight of those choices was something they could never get out from under. But neither of them intended for things to turn out the way they did, and neither of them deserved it.
Mike Starr was a founding member of Alice In Chains, and he was a participant in Celebrity Rehab, and for good or bad, those things are what make up part of the headline tonight. I'm choosing to focus on the Mike Starr that was my friend though. A good person who deeply loved his family, friends, and fans, and who was deeply loved in return.

We on Tune Of the Day, say Welcome back in another time and another place Mike.

Since its formation, Alice in Chains has released four studio albums, three EPs, two live albums, four compilations, and two DVDs

I choosed one tune from Dirt that is the second studio album they did, .

Here is another one but its from their latest album,Black Gives Way to Blue
called Lesson Learned.

Steel Dragon - We All Die Young

Do you remember the super singer who dubbed Mark Wahlberg's singing in the movie "Rock Star" (2001)? That's right - Miljenko Matijevic, Croatian-American and front man of Steelheart of Connecticut. These became to known as one of the early 90th century's finest bands in the late 80s glamrock scene (Pudelrock). The first two albums "Steelheart" (1990) and "Tangled in Reins" (1992) full of classics like "Angel Eyes", "Steelheart" and the killerballad "She's Gone". Steelheart disbanded in 1992 after Miljenko seriously injured on stage by a falling light rig. A tentative comeback attempt in 1996 was short lived, but ten years later, Miljenko refuled Steelheart seriously and released in 2008 the Led Zeppelin-scented "Good 2B Alive". Now the band, for the first time comes to Sweden, they will perform at The Sweden Rock Festival this summer.

Steel Dragon is the name of a fictitious heavy metal band featuring real musicians, created to appear in the Warner Bros. film Rock Star (2001), inclusively being responsible for the movie's original soundtrack. The members, especially the lead singers, had an over the top look and attitude similar to those seen in some famous heavy metal bands of the '80s. Steel Dragon's music was extracted directly from a band named Steelheart. The lead singer of Steelheart (Michael Matijevic) provided a few of the vocals for Mark Wahlberg in the film.

So todays tune will be ”We All Die Young” in two versions, first the cover with Mark Whalberg and his movie band Steel Dragon, then off for a kinda newly take with Steelheart and for last same tune as original. Enjoy!

Steelheart - We All Die Young

The band's formation on-screen included the talents of four musicians and had actors playing the role of the lead singers, who actually were dubbed by vocalists Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman, Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force, Journey) and Michael Matijevic during their performances, except for Myles Kennedy, who did the actual singing himself during his brief scene during the movie.

Additional musicians helped compose and perform the songs:
Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne) - Guitarist "Ghode"
Jeff Pilson (Dio, Foreigner, Dokken) - Bassist "Jörgen"
Jason Bonham (Bonham, Foreigner, The Who) - Drummer "A.C."
Jason Flemyng (Actor) - Lead singer "Bobby Beers"
Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman, Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force, Journey, Axel Rudi Pell) - Lead vocals for "Bobby Beers"
Mark Wahlberg (Actor) - Lead singer "Chris 'Izzy' Cole"
Miljenko Matijevic (Steelheart) - Lead vocals for "Chris 'Izzy' Cole"
Dominic West (Actor) - Guitarist "Kirk Cuddy"
Additional musicians
Guy Pratt (Bass)
Brian McLeod (Drums)
Myles Kennedy (The Mayfield Four, Alter Bridge) (Lead vocals) - "Thor" ("Chris 'Izzy' Cole's" replacement to finish last Concert)
Blas Elias (Slaughter) - "Donny Johnson" - Drummer (Blood Pollution)
Nick Catanese (Black Label Society) (Guitar) - "Xander Cummins" (Blood Pollution)

While Nick Catanese appeared in the movie as Xander Cummins, a member of the tribute band, he actually played guitar on all of the Steel Dragon songs on the soundtrack, along with Zakk Wylde, who appeared as Ghode, the guitarist that Xander Cummins was playing tribute to.

Stephan Jenkins (Third Eye Blind) - Lead Singer (Black Babylon)
Brian Vander Ark (Bass) - "Ricki Bell" (Blood Pollution)
Timothy Olyphant (Actor - Guitar) - "Rob Malcolm" (Blood Pollution)

Steelheart - She's Gone

Steelheart is a glam metal band based in Norwalk, Connecticut. Formed in 1990, the band is fronted by vocalist Miljenko Matijevic. Steelheart started off as a rock band called Red Alert whose members included James Ward (bass), Chris Risola (guitars), Jack Wilkenson (drums) and after auditioning, Miljenko Matijevic on vocals. Frank DiCostanzo joined as a second guitarist and John Fowler replaced Jack Wilkenson on drums, after leaving the band Rage of Angels. Recording a four-track demo tape, Matijevic managed to meet artist manager Stan Poses. Poses wasn't interested but the next day, after hearing the demo tape, called confirming that "Red Alert" had just been given a contract with MCA records. Realizing that the Red Alert name was already taken, the band settled on Steelheart allegedly because of their attitude after trying to get a record deal for so long.

Steelheart have released five full length albums, Steelheart 1990, Tangled In Reins 1992, Wait 1996, Just a Taste 2006 and Good 2B Alive 2008.

Todays tune She's Gone is a beautiful piece from the band, could be one of their biggest tunes aswell, its a real ”Killerballad” and its taken from the first self titled full-length album by the band.
