Interpol - Success

Interpol was in Stockholm yesterday, and playd for a very filled up Cirkus.
Great techs specially the light tech and the drum guys, fabulous.

I took some pics from the concert that I want to share with u.

Interpol was formed by Daniel Kessler and initial drummer Greg Drudy. Kessler had “been looking to put a band together for a while” when he met Drudy. Kessler "had a very hard time finding musicians to play with—musicians at all, really." Kessler met Carlos Dengler in a philosophy class at New York University and asked him if he played an instrument. Later, Kessler ran into Paul Banks (whom he had first met in France) in New York's East Village, and the pair discussed collaborating together.

In 2000 Drudy left the band, so now they use guest players playing live.
They released 4 albums, the latest album came out in 2010 simply named Interpol!

GWAR - School's Out

A new band was released on Sweden Rock Festival.

Are they deadly monster from outer space, frozen in Antarctica for millions of years and thawed in the '80s thanks to the poodlerockers frequency hairspray emissions? Or "just" a band from Virginia USA, with a stage show even crazier than the music!?

Gwar released twelve albums since 1988, most recently last year's "Bloody Pit of Horror". The sound on these discs has varied, with elements of punk and experimentation on a Frank Zappa level, and of course brutal metal. It is the latter style of music that currently dominates Gwarsoundet.

Other important components of the concept is the mixture of explicit genital humor (be prepared for spraying liquid from the scene) and, indeed, political awareness. And "murder" of undesirable individuals - do not be surprised if a particular Mr. Lordi will be "executed" on stage during the Gwar Sweden Rock Festival debut. An experience you'll prolly never forget!
Here is a pic where they ripping Paris Hilton into pieces ...ahem..

The band has not played in Sweden since 1991 and this will be the only gig here.
Here is a old Alice Cooper tune. Folks, here´s Gwer.

MUUUAAAAA, Thetania

Van Halen - Jump

Classic time !!

Today I choose Van Halen.
They had their big years during the 80´s, Van Halen had more Billboard Hot 100 hits than any other hard rock or heavy metal band.

Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen are the sons of Jan Van Halen, who arranged for them to have music lessons. The Van Halen brothers started playing music together in the 1960s when Eddie took up classical piano, then later on, drums and Alex took up the guitar. Secretly, while Eddie would deliver newspapers on his paper route, Alex would sneak over and play on Eddie's drumset. Eventually Eddie found out about Alex playing his drum set and was so frustrated that he told Alex, "OK, I'll go play your guitar."

In 1972, the Van Halen brothers formed a band called "Mammoth" which featured Eddie as lead vocalist/guitarist, Alex on drums and Mark Stone on bass. They initially rented a sound system from David Lee Roth but decided to save money by letting him join as lead vocalist even though he had previously auditioned unsuccessfully.

There were some upsets between Eddie and Roth, so in 1984 Roth was out.
So in 1985 Sammy Hagar came in and took Roths place.
In 1996 Hagar left as well, they had a reunion with Roth but it didnt really
stayd that way so in 96-99 Gary Cherone came in and went.

In the summer of 2002, David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar teamed up in the Song For Song, the Heavyweight Champs of Rock and Roll tour (also known as the 'Sans-Halen' or 'Sam & Dave' Tour). The joint tour headlining both former lead singers attracted media and audience fascination because it seemed more improbable than even a Van Halen tour with Roth or Hagar could be. 2003-2005 reunion with Hagar.

All this to end up with reunion with Roth 2006 and they still keep on going as it seems. On January 17, 2011, Van Halen entered the Henson Studio C with producer John Shanks. Shanks posted on his Twitter account that he was in the studio with the band and posted a picture of one of Eddie Van Halen's signature amps. We will see what that ends up to :)

Ladys and Gents here is Van Halen..

Joe Bonamassa - Dust Bowl

This Fantastic guitar player Joe Bonamassa is soon, in the middle of touring with his other band BCC,giving out a new album. Called "Dust Bowl", the producer is Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Black Crowes, etc.)

Its 18 days till the release of it. :)
Im so eager!!

Kevin writes a bit about it:
because Joe has such a busy schedule (and getting ever busier with Black Country Communion recordings and tours, and a collaboration with Beth Hart in the works), we have to schedule the recording sessions well in advance. Now this doesn’t necessarily mean he, or anyone else, is prepared or ready for them when the time comes. In my experience, Joe is never ready for them, so we start off each session with a clean sheet of paper. Generally I have a few songs for Joe to cover in my back pocket, like a toothpick, just in case we need them, and very often they become key songs in his repertoire, like “Sloe Gin” and “Stop!”, for examples, but I really would like Joe to write as many as he can – and the strongest songs win out.

Joe is special in many ways.
For example in 2009 a big year for Bonamassa. He was awarded the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award at the U.K.’s prestigious Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards and Classic Rock magazine has said, “They’re calling him the future of blues, but they’re wrong – Joe Bonamassa is the present; so fresh and of his time that he almost defines it.” He was also named Best Blues Guitarist in Guitar Player Magazine’s 2009 Readers’ Choice Awards for the third consecutive year. Guitar Player writer Matt Blackett has said, “He’s an old soul, and that comes through in his bends, vibrato, singing voice, and note choices, which – which each passing year – get more restrained and refined.”
