Hailed upon its release last year as "vital and comfortable taking new chances” (Rolling Stone) and “cheery, resilient, forever looking forward” (The New Yorker), Paul McCartney’s "McCartney III", which topped album charts across the world, is now literally moving into the future in the form of "McCartney III" Imagined.
Personally curated by Paul, "McCartney III Imagined" features an A-List assortment of friends, fans and brand new acquaintances, each covering and/or reimagining their favorite "McCartney III" moments in their own signature styles. The result is a kaleidoscopic reinterpretation of an album Rolling Stone accurately tagged “an inspiration to us all”—one that serves as an extension of the instantly beloved "McCartney III" while standing on its own as brilliant and adventurous milestone in the McCartney discography.

It's Friday so why not something different, a "Friday Morning" love song, written and recorded at the remote farm in Burton, Texas where KHRUANGBIN got its start. To commemorate the song, the band asked their closest friends and family to record messages of love to each band member. The music video is a portrait of the band hearing these audio recordings for the first time, capturing on film the emotions one feels when they hear just how loved they are; a poignant and heartfelt expression in a time where, as a collective whole, we need to hear and express love more than ever.
KHRUANGBIN is a three-piece band from Texas, formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald Johnson on drums. Taking influence from 1960's Thai funk - their name literally translates to "Engine Fly" in Thai - KHRUANGBIN is steeped in the bass heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspiration, Tarantino soundtracks and surf-rock cool.
Enjoy today's tune, taken from the second studio album "Con Todo El Mundo" by American musical trio KHRUANGBIN. It was released January 26, 2018 under Dead Oceans and Night Time Stories.
Monday and it's time for the annual Way Out West week again.
I did my first Way out West festival 2008, the 2nd year it was running and since then I have been in Slottsskogen, Gothenburg for almost two weeks.
Nowadays it is an absolutely wonderful time in the park, fantastic colleagues, people around the organization, sponsors, exhibitors and restaurangs, you basically know everyone there and the job goes incredibly smoothly, during the year we have worked out all the shortcomings and done most very simple, almost like a dance during a balmy summer evening.
So this week we are going to play some music of the artist that plays on the festival this year. Then we sum it up next week for a couple of days of bands that I have discover and perhaps a story or two. Enjoy!

Beginning of last year, KHRUANGBIN released their second album Con Todo El Mundo to widespread critical acclaim. The album title answers the question on how to love – “with the whole world”. Kind of fitting for a band that channels the beauty of the world in their music.
Today's tune "White Gloves" is taken from the album "The Universe Smiles Upon You", released November 6, 2015. The Video made is a Relix Studio Sessions, 9/9/16, enjoy!
KHRUANGBIN is an American musical trio from Houston, Texas, formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald Ray "DJ" Johnson Jr. on drums. The band is known for blending global music influences, classic soul, dub and psychedelia. Their debut album, "The Universe Smiles Upon You" (2015), draws from the history of Thai music in the 1960s, while their second album, "Con Todo El Mundo" (2018), has influences from Spain and the Middle East. Speer, Lee, and DJ also host "Air Khruang" radio shows on NTS and Facebook Live.

Throughout "Con Todo El Mundo", Laura Lee’s melodic low-end theory, Mark’s lyrical, free-role guitar lines, and DJ’s ever-steady, ever-ready backbeat form something greater than their parts. A vibe-synchronous soul-unit travelling the planet, honing their craft, absorbing the sights, sounds and feels from cultures across the globe, processing them through the Khruangbin filter and gifting the result...with all the world.
"Con Todo El Mundo" was released January 26, 2018.
The women in the video are all part of a large network of artists, singers, dancers and songwriters who have been either exiled or silenced since the revolution. With the video, KHRUANGBIN hopes to bring these remarkable women back into the spotlight and honour the artistry of silenced women everywhere.
