Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing

Friday again and its a lovely day, sun is shining its +4 and i can feel the spring in the air. So a day as this can not be more suit for a classic tune with one of the best guitarist of all time, Sir Jimi Hendrix a man who i don't need to introduce.

And for today i will dedicate the tune to a friend of mine "Micke Sandström" that is doing a photo exhibition here in Stockholm.

Since 2004, Micke Sandström, with his eardrums at stake, standing at the edge of the stage and captured many of today's greatest artists with his camera. On Gallery Korn this weekend, you can by Mike's camera lenses relive the concerts of everything from The Hives, Neil Young, Foo Fighters and Nick Cave to Eryka Badu, The Pretenders and many others. Take the opportunity to see his exhibition this weekend. Opening Hours Saturday 12:00 - 18:00 and Sunday 12:00 - 15:00.

Todays tune "Little Wing" is a song written by Jimi Hendrix. He first recorded the song on the 1967 album Axis: Bold as Love. "Little Wing" is played using the unique chord/melody guitar style that Hendrix developed during his early career stints in rhythm and blues bands. In this style, the guitar sounds as though it is playing two parts. This is done by simultaneously playing multiple complementary notes, often parts of chords, and then changing a note within the chord to create a melodic effect. Enjoy!

I couldn't resist to add a version with Micke Sandström and Heavy Baron, filmed a few days ago from the Gallery, nice version.

Accept - Princess Of The Dawn

At last, the long-awaited moment of hundreds of thousands of Accept fans! The German legends are finally together again! The four old instrumentalist are Wolfgang Hoffmann, Peter Baltes, Herman Frank and Stefan Schwarzmann who has joined forces with TT Quick-singer Mark Tornillo and in May will be the long-awaited comeback album "Blood of the Nation". Accept are ready to take over the world again! And in 20th of May they will come to Sweden for a small club gig at Debaser Slussen.
Tickets will be out tomorrow at 09:00.

With their brutal, simple aggressive riffs and fast tempos, Accept was one of the top metal bands of the early '80s, and a major influence on the development of thrash. The band was led by the unique vocal stylings of screeching banshee Udo Dirkschneider. The band had a truley recognizable sound and did recorded three of the best heavy metal albums of the decade in Restless and Wild, Balls to the Wall and Metal Heart.

In May 2009, a possible Accept reformation surfaced when bassist Peter Baltes revealed that he spent a weekend at his house in Pennsylvania and "shredding away" with the band's guitarist Wolf Hoffmann. "Something amazing is in the works," Baltes explained. "As soon as I can, I'll let everybody know. Let's make the 'Metal Heart' beat again." On May 14, 2009, it was announced that Udo Dirkschneider would not be participating in the rumored Accept reunion tour. Former TT Quick singer Mark Tornillo would become Dirkschneider's replacement.

In 2009, Accept decided to write and record new music for a 2010 release working with producer Andy Sneap (of Megadeth, Exodus, Testament, Arch Enemy and Onslaught fame). Titled Blood of Nations, it will be their first original album in fourteen years (since 1996's Predator). Additionally, the band has announced that they will make their live debut with Tornillo on May 8th at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City.

Todays tune is a real classic with Accept performing their classic song Princess Of The Dawn, live in Japan 1985. The tune is taken from the album "Restless And Wild" (1982)

30 Seconds to Mars - Kings and Queens

30 Seconds to Mars gounded 1998 by frontman Jared Leto and his older brother, drummer Shannon Leto, they found success in the 2000s with a mix of post-grunge, screamo, and melodic hard rock.

Jared Leto initially known for his work as an actor (most notably on the '90s TV drama My So-Called Life, as well as movies like Requiem for a Dream and Fight Club) 30 Sec recived great success with the record "A Beautiful Lie" and the convinced the bandmates to travel to serval continents to work with Jared Leto's busy acting schedule, which had filled up with roles in Panic Room, Highway, American Pyscho, and Requiem for a Dream.

Tonight 30 Seconds to Mars will play at Arenan here in Stockholm, i guess the venue is sold out since long time ago. The production that was coming was huge for the small venue as Arenan, 4 trucks, around 40 travling technicians, 30 stagehands, serval coaches and then it was set to hang around 47 points (Normal around 6-8 points) in the roof, but they cutted it down to 12. I hope it was a good show!

"The band name "30 Seconds to Mars" actually comes from a thesis that the band found online that was written by a former Harvard professor. And one of the subsections of the thesis was titled 'thirty seconds to mars [sic]' and he goes on to talk about the exponential growth of technology that relates to humans and saying that we are quite literally thirty seconds to mars. What it means to us is, we thought it best described our music, in short."

Todays tune "Kings and Queens" is taken from the bands third studio album "This Is War" released December 8, 2009.

Note: The CD booklet, as well as the promotional and digital artwork features a roaring tiger. All retail albums include varied sleeves, separate from the booklet, featuring one of the 2,000 different covers. (Puh if you are a huge fan and wants them all!)

Job For A Cowboy - Unfurling A Darkened Gospel

Today it time for the last band from the Lamb Of God package that was held a few days back so for today i will talk about a band call them self for Job for a Cowboy. The band playes an American extreme death metal and they are from Glendale, Arizona, formed in 2003. Job for a Cowboy started as a deathcore group, and evolved into a predominantly death metal sound with their full-length debut Genesis. They have been defined by The New York Times as "an Arizona band with a guttural, brute-force sound descended (indirectly) from hard-core punk" and "straightforwardly brutal act" by Rolling Stone magazine.

The current line-up of the band consists of vocalist Jonny Davy, guitarists Al Glassman and Bobby Thompson, bassist Brent Riggs, and drummer Jon Rice, with Davy being the only original member. This band did an ok show, to bad that i wasn't able to see the hole thing, but i did bumped into Al a few times, a nice dude from Boston who liked this country alot as we have the same weather that they do :) As he wasn't to happy to spend to long times in Arizona, to hot.

Todays tune is taken from their second studio album "Ruination" -2009.
