W.A.S.P. - Chainsaw Charlie

W.A.S.P. is an American heavy metal band formed in 1982. They emerged from the same Los Angeles scene that spawned Mötley Crüe, Ratt, Quiet Riot and others. Blackie Lawless remains the only member from the original line-up. They released their most recent album in October 2009, entitled Babylon. There has been much speculation over the origin of the bands name. In an interview in the 1980s, the band claimed it stood for "We Are Sexual Perverts" or "We Are Sexual Prophets" It has also been rumored that their name is an acronym for "We Are So Perfect", "We Are So Powerful", "White Anglo-Saxon Protestants", "We Are Satan's People" or even "We Are Satan's Preachers". When asked about the band's name, Lawless has avoided giving a straight answer; in one interview he answered "We ain't sure, pal". :) Yesterday these guys did a gig at Debaser Medis on their Babylon Tour. It was a interesting evening with a very light setup but never the less off a energy full band and a with a Blackie in a good mood, they delivered some nice stuff from the new album mixed with classic tunes. The venue was totally sold out so it was a powerful audience that watched this show. I was a bit lucky this evening, had a friend in the crowed that took a picture for me and Tune Of The Day.

Current lineup Blackie Lawless - lead vocals, rhythm guitar, Doug Blair - lead guitar, backing vocals, Mike Duda - bass, backing vocals and Mike Dupke - drums

Todays tune "Chainsaw Charlie (Murders in the New Morgue)" is taken from the concept album The Crimson Idol which was released in 1992. Its title is a play on "The Murders in the Rue Morgue", a short story by Edgar Allan Poe. And the video for this tune is filmed at the TV-Show "Top of the Pops" (Very edit version) Enjoy!

The orginal version, no moving video on this one.
