Red Circuit - Digging In The Dirt

RED CIRCUIT is a Progressive metal Supergroup from Wiesbaden, Hessen, Germany. It features members and guest musicians from renowned bands such as VANDEN PLAS; ADAGIO, FIREWIND and ELEGY.

That RED CIRCUIT are a great example of a band whose result is the sum of its individual parts. Or, to transfer a mathematical formula to the rock music world: world class vocalist plus brilliant instrumentalists equals a great band. And there is no hesitation in describing RED CIRCUIT as such, as their previous albums, “Trance State” (2006) and “Homeland” (2009) impressively proved. The finely balanced mixture of technically classy power metal, refined progressive rock and a cleverly inwoven mainstream attitude, which serve to make the songs so memorable has been praised for years, and not only by the music press, but also by an ever-growing hoard of fans. Their third studio album, “Haze Of Nemesis” is now on the start line, ready to burst on the world with powerful guitar riffs, symphonic keyboard parts and superb vocals.

The latest album "Haze Of Nemesis" was released in October 2014.

The RED CIRCUIT are:

Chitral "Chity" Somapala - Lead vocals (FIREWIND, CIVILIZATION ONE, REKUIEM, POWER QUEST)
Markus Teske - Keyboards
Christian Moser - Guitars (SHEELA, 3 MONKEYS AND A DOG, JUKE BOX HERO, JOY)
Tommy Schmitt - Bass (ZEUS, Q-SQUAD, FRACTURE)
Michael Stein - Drums (GODEX, ROKKEN)

Todays tune "Digging In The Dirt" is taken from the album "Haze Of Nemesis". The original can be found on the album "Us" by Peter Gabriel, released in 1992.

Unearth - The Swarm

From the small town "Winthrop" in Massachusetts we find the metalcore dudes UNEARTH.

After an awe-inspiring 16 years of blazing trails and dominating stages, UNEARTH is now institutionalized as a relentless force in heavy metal, standing the test of time with consistently triumphant creative output, tireless road warrior resilience, Blue Collar style workmanship and a resolute determination to deliver the goods.

Like SLAYER, CANNIBAL CORPSE, TESTAMENT and ANTHRAX before them, UNEARTH emerged as part of a burgeoning revolution in heavy music but continued to maintain their relevance and mastery of their craft. They’ve resisted and prevailed against changing trends, subcultural fashions and the way music is obtained and distributed with their credibility, integrity and unique persona intact.

The men of UNEARTH – longtime members Trevor Phipps (vocals), Buz McGrath and Ken Susi (guitars), John “Slo” Maggard (bass)– are proven “lifers.” In just a couple of short years, drummer Nick Pierce has proven his commitment as well. They have put the furtherance of uncompromising heavy music at the forefront of their career goals. UNEARTH perseveres, conquers and continues to achieve

"Even after all this time, it’s still clear that the legacy of UNEARTH continues to reign supreme in metalcore."

Todays tune "The Swarm" taken from the album "Watchers of Rule". The album is produced and mixed by Mark Lewis (WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER), this marks the band's six full length LP in their decorated sixteen year tenure. This markes the first album that does not feature long time bassist John Maggard, also the first album to feature Nick Pierce on drums. Guest on the album is Mark Morton from LAMB OF GOD.

Salems Lott - No Choice To Love

Sālems Lott is an American Shock Metal band formed in Hollywood, California. They are known for their high-energy, explosive riffing and excessively violent stage performances that got them thrown out of some infamous Hollywood clubs. The band utilizes psycho theater and Hi-tech musicianship that involves a chainsaw sacrifice, upside down guitar solos and backwards drumming.

Their Debut EP features 7 tracks of unrelenting, in-your-face Metal. Combining elements of bands such as Megadeth, Motley Crue, X-Japan, King Diamond, WASP, Alice Cooper, Racer X, Ozzy Osbourne and Accept; Sālems Lott comes out with a refreshingly unique and much needed blend of Heavy Metal.

The album has something for everyone of all tastes including Speed Metal, Glam, Thrash, Classical, Power, Visual Kei, Progressive and Hard Rock :

-Speed Metal Fiends will enjoy adrenaline pumping tracks such as "S.S.", "Wings Of Duress" and "Smoke And Mirrors"

-The hook infested "No Choice To Love" will have you humming the chorus in your head for days and combines that perfect blend of raw grit and an insanely catchy melody.

Amongst a sea of hipster riddled LA 'folk' rock, Sālems Lott comes out with a powerful debut that shows no mercy and provides the perfect antithesis to an otherwise sedated scene.

Todays tune "No Choice to Love" is taken from Salems Lott's Self-Titled Debut EP.

Misery Index - Conjuring the Cull

New week, time to crown the "Record Of The Week". A really hard week of jobs has passed and a new crazy week is coming. Order to cope with this, some utter deathgrind that tears out a part of your brain that you can never reclaim.

Record Of The Week is "The Killing Gods", the fifth studio album by American deathgrind band MISERY INDEX. It was released on May 23, 2014, by Season of Mist. The first five tracks of the album are all part of one collective song called "Faust".

Adrien Begrand wrote for Decibel that Misery Index's "hybrid of death metal and grindcore hasn't lost a step at all". He praised the album's "taut and aggressive" music, along with its "clever use of melody" and Jason Netherton's "commanding vocals". Bradley Zorgdrager of Exclaim! said that Misery Index have "focused their craft", and found that the band "proudly embraces" melody on this album. He described the album as "unrelentingly fast, unabashedly heavy and unequivocally the best album yet from an already great band." Sammi Chichester of Revolver described how, during the opening suite of songs, Misery Index "split their blast beats with emotionally-driven breakdowns and melodic guitar solos". She also said the album "might initially irk diehards, but should ultimately leave them far from miserable".

That it took four years to create a new album is too long for a band capable of producing such consistent and exciting material. The album is an intense, expansive and loud. It's filled up with enough blasting to counteract the crunching grooves in a brilliant way to make this a hugely satisfying record. It will rape your ears like nothing they have accomplished before in their career.

To make a short summery: The Killing Gods is an essential purchase for all death/grind fans of all ages.

Misery Index is an American deathgrind band formed in 2001 in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, by Jason Netherton on vocals and bass guitar, Mike Harrison on vocals and guitar, and Kevin Talley on drums. From 2006–2010, its line-up consisted of Netherton on vocals and bass guitar, Sparky Voyles on guitar, Mark Kloeppel on vocals and guitar, and Adam Jarvis on drums. In 2010, Voyles left the band and was replaced by Darin Morris.

Todays tune is the pure blasting mayhem "Conjuring the Cull", enjoy!

The 13th Floor Elevators - You're Gonna Miss Me

Sunday and it's time for a classic.

Today we choose a debut tune from a pretty crazy band called THE 13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS with the tune "You're Gonna Miss Me".

The tune is a 1966 single from the band 13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS from their album The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators. The song being the most successful hit for the band.

It has since become a garage rock classic, being included on the 1972 Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era compilation.

The song is part of the soundtrack of High Fidelity (based on the novel by Nick Hornby), prominently featured during the film's introduction.

The 13th Floor Elevators was an American rock band from Austin, Texas, formed by guitarist and vocalist Roky Erickson, electric jug player Tommy Hall, and guitarist Stacy Sutherland, which existed from 1965 to 1969. During their career, the band released four LP records and seven 45s for the International Artists record label.

They are often credited as one of the first psychedelic bands in the history of rock n' roll. According to the 2005 documentary You're Gonna Miss Me, Tommy Hall is credited with coining the term "psychedelic rock", although artists such as the Holy Modal Rounders and the Deep had used the term "psychedelic" to describe their music earlier. Their contemporary influence has been acknowledged by 1960s musicians such as Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Peter Albin of Big Brother and the Holding Company, and Chris Gerniottis of Zakary Thaks.

A short note: the Elevators could have been commercially huge but were cursed with bad luck on the way culminating in the mental demise of Roky Erickson due to being placed in a mental hospital for (in the main part) the criminally insane as an example to the youth in Texas that drugs would not be tollerated. The subsequent raid that put him there arrested him with about 3 grams of Marijuana in a matchbox (speculation is that it was planted on him in the first place) unfortunately as Roky was "Roller Coaster"ing with a much worse mental illness due to certain therapies they used at the time the rest of the band eventually folded and went their separate ways and then any chance for a full reunion was lost when the guitarist Stacey Sutherland died from a shot wound by his estranged wife in the late 70's.

Personnel

Roky Erickson: Vocals, rhythm guitar
Stacy Sutherland: Lead guitar
Tommy Hall: Amplified jug
Benny Thurman: Bass
John Ike Walton: Drums, percussion

Tombs - Seance

Todays we are going to take a journey into the realms of extremity.

From the Brooklyn based progressive metal band TOMBS. Formed in 2007 by singer / guitarist Mike Hill (Anodyne, Versoma) in Brooklyn, NY,

TOMBS blends a wide array of influences including Black Metal and dark industrial music. The band went through a number of line-up changes with Hill the only remaining original member. Former members included Domenic Seita (Storm of Light) and Carson Daniel James. The band’s prior Relapse output included a self-titled EP and a split 12-inch with like-minded, Germanic darkness weavers Planks. Both records were release on Hill’s now-defunct label Black Box Recordings. The band’s first two Relapse releases, 2009's “Winter Hours” and 2011's “Path of Totality” both received massive reception from the press with the latter being featured prominently on many critic’s year end metal lists including Pitchfork, Brooklyn Vegan, NPR and MetalSucks. The crowning achievement was securing the 2011 album of the year for Decibel Magazine.

“Savage Gold” the band’s third album on relapse continues TOMBS journey into the realms of extremity. The lineup includes long-time drummer and co-writer Andrew Hernandez as well as new members bassist Ben Brand (Woe) and guitarist Garett Bussanick (Flourishing). This time around, the band has teamed up with reknowned producer Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, GOATWHORE, HATE ETERNAL) to record the band's most extreme release to date.

The album focuses the awesome strength of TOMBS previous works into one brilliantly dark post-punk and extreme black-metal masterpiece. "Savage Gold" both expands upon the moody post-punk foundations that Tombs’ prior albums explored while also bringing out the band’s most traditionally metal moments yet. Once every few years a record comes along that sets a new benchmark for what can be done in heavy music. This is that moment and this is that record.

Todays tune "Seance" taken from the bands 3:rd album "Savage Gold", enjoy!

Mötley Crüe - All Bad Things

Iconic rock band Mötley Crüe announced yesterday on Fox and Friends the details of their final performance. This will mark the end of their touring career and will conclude their two year Final Tour cycle at the end of 2015 on New Year’s Eve, December 31 at Staples Center in their hometown of Los Angeles where the band’s career began 34 years ago. The band will be celebrating this week’s big announcement with a performance on The Tonight Show on 1/22. Mötley Crüe first announced plans for their 2-year Final Tour by signing a Cessation Of Touring Agreement at a press conference in Los Angeles in January 2014, solidifying the end of their Final Tour at the end of 2015.

The 2014 leg of the Final Tour was one of last year’s top grossing tours, selling close to a million tickets across 72 cities and grossing more than $45 million. “Mötley Crüe’s Final Tour has been a massive global success and a true testament to the popularity of this legendary rock band,” says Rick Franks, Live Nation’s Regional President of North American Concerts. “New Year’s Eve 2015 will mark the end of an era in rock history but there’s no doubt that Mötley Crüe’s music will influence generations of artists for years to come.”

After thirty-four years performing together, the 2015 leg of the Final Tour will see the band play Japan in February, then Australia/New Zealand in spring. In June Mötley Crüe will say farewell to the European Festival circuit with 3 massive performances at Download (UK), Sweden Rock (Sweden) and Novarock (Austria) Festivals before taking their can’t-miss show back to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico this summer for 34 final North American shows due to tremendous fan demand.

The North American dates will see the band visit cities such as Chicago, New York, Toronto, Atlanta, Mexico City and will be taking place in arenas exclusively to ensure fans in all cities get to experience the full show production of the Final Tour:

“In some of the cities, we could only reach a fraction of the fans who wanted to come see us play last year because of ticket demand so we’re coming back to those places to bring them our full production including the Crüecifly drum coaster, as well as all pyro and every other bell and whistle. Even despite the overwhelming fan demand we can only add so many new cities in North America because of our commitment to take the Final Tour global on our final year.” says Nikki Sixx (bass).

Audiences can also expect a high-energy performance from very special guest Alice Cooper, who joined the band for the Final Tour in 2014. He will be tearing up the stage for crowds across North America once again. The pairing has been roundly praised as a must-see by fans and media alike.

In addition, a special Crüe Year’s Eve LA Travel Package will be available for the LA show (the band’s Final show)!

Following the North American summer shows, the band will take the Final Tour on more international dates this Fall before “all bad things come to an end” for good on New Year’s Eve 2015.

Coinciding with yesterday’s announcement and the theme of the Final Tour, the band also released its new single “All Bad Things”. The single is accompanied by a video clip of highlights of Mötley Crüe’s 34-year career.

To give back to the fans for their support over the years, Mötley Crüe will give away their best selling GREATEST HITS album for free in partnership with Google Play for one week only beginning at 12PM PST today. Download the album through Tuesday, 1/27 here:  The compilation album includes classic hits like “Dr. Feelgood,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Kickstart My Heart,” amongst many more – check out a special message here:

Mötley Crüe are also in the process of putting together the ultimate collector’s album package for the fans to be released later this year which will include the new track, “All Bad Things” amongst many other surprises, details of which will be announced in the near future.

Since 2015 is all about celebrating the legacy of Mötley Crüe, the band and fans from around the world will also be able to share their memories, pictures, thoughts and stories of 34 years of Mötley Crüe online at www.motley.com using #RipMotleyCrue.

Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, the quartet—Vince Neil (vocals), Mick Mars (guitars), Nikki Sixx (bass) and Tommy Lee (drums)—has commandeered the rock pantheon for over 30 years. In that time, they have accumulated worldwide album sales exceeding 80 million, seven platinum or multi-platinum albums, 22 Top 40 mainstream rock hits, six Top 20 pop singles, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, three Grammy nominations, four New York Times bestsellers (including the band’s biography, THE DIRT) and countless sold out tours across the globe, playing to millions of fans. Mötley Crüe was the first rock band in history to have completed an epic sold-out Las Vegas residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The band continues to remain on the forefront of entertainment reinventing themselves via not only their music but also their mind blowing live shows featuring never seen before elements, such as Tommy Lee’s drum roller coaster. Mötley Crüe was featured in KIA MOTORS’ award winning 2012 Super Bowl commercial.

Mötley Crüe (pronounced as "mott-lay crew") is an American heavy metal/Glam Metal band whose members include Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, and Vince Neil. History 1980s Mötley Crüe was formed in 1981 , in Los Angeles, after bassist Nikki Sixx left the band London, (a band he and Lizzie Grey started in 1979 when he was fired from Blackie Lawless" band Sister). The band London would also be the first band for the later Guns N" Roses guitarists Izzy Stradlin and Slash and for Cinderella drummer Fred Coury. Sixx asked London bandmate Greg about musicians interested in joining a new band. Leon recommended the drummer Tommy Lee of Suite 19. According to Mick Mars, it was he who thought up the band"s name. While in his former band, White Horse, one of the band members walked in and called the group "a motley looking crew." Mars copied the name down on paper, with the original spelling Mottley Krue. The name was later applied to the band he was to join in 1981 with Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee. They had met guitarist Mick Mars through a classified ad in an L.A. music newspaper reading "Loud, rude, aggressive guitarist avaliable." Nikki"s first reaction was, "I can"t believe it! Here"s another one like us!" Mars"s equipment was quickly set up and, shortly after he was played the opening riff to "Stick to Your Guns," Mars proceeded to, according to Tommy Lee, "play the shit out of his guitar." After getting drunk and jamming for an hour, Mars fired the band"s former guitarist, a musician known only as Robin (a pansy according to Tommy). Tommy Lee and Vince Neil originally knew each other in high school. They had performed in different bands in the garage-band circuit. Mars suggested Mötley Crüe hire Neil after seeing him perform with the band Rock Candy. Neil at first rebuffed the band when they asked him to audition. Then, as fate would have it, Rock Candy dissolved; Neil broke down and agreed to audition for Mötley Crüe after Tommy called him once more.

Todays tune "All Bad Things" is the brand new single with Mötley Crüe, enjoy!

IAmFire - Burn Your Halo Red

IAmFire is psychedelic mindblowing rock in it´s heaviest, most life-affirming and trippiest form. It´s equal parts The Beatles "Revolver", Black Sabbath, in a unique accessible recipe.

IAmFire is the brainchild of Mikael and Ulf. Starting out as Sub Rosa, first as an instrumental combo with Mikael Ehlert, Ulf Scott Hansen and Peter Ahlers Olsen. Peter Dolving was invited a couple of years ago to join the festivities, bringing a whole new level of vocal harmonies and lyrical depth to follow the rabbit through the looking-glass.

IAmFire are truly roughneck veterans. The gentlemen of IAmFire have a past in bands like The Haunted, and Hatesphere, etc. They have been around the block, seen the sights, and came out on the other end still with a drive and passion. Musically inspired by everything from Sonic Youth, Black Sabbath, Kyuss, Led Zeppelin, Joy Division, and a love for Bill Hicks infamous "ride". Consider this is an invitation.

IAmFire welcomes you to step into a world of heavy and ecclectic, that very few touch. So get ready to get down with the groove. IAmFire lays it out in way that only bands like Mastodon, Torche and Neurosis come close to. Steeped in equal measures of heavy psychedelia, brutish grooves inspired by soul and 70´s rock, with Dolvings enigmatic voice lyrics through it all.

Come on down.

The seasoned four-piece consisting of:

Peter Dolving  (Rosvo, The Haunted, MaryBeatsJane etc.) - Vocals
Mikael Ehlert (BloodEagle, Hatesphere) - Bass and vocals
Ulf Scott Hansen (L.O.C, Suspekt, Great Deciever, Tech9) - Drums
Peter Ahlers Olsen (MOB) - Guitar

Todays tune "Burn Your Halo Red" is taken from IAmFire's "Eyes Wide Open" 10" to be released on january 2015 via Deadlight Entertainment.

"Eyes wide open" was produced and mixed by Jacob Bredahl @ Dead Rat Studio, Aarhus, Denmark, and mastered by Brad Boatright @ Audiosiege, Portland, Oregon. Brad has previously done work for bands like Sleep, Off!, Corrosion of conformity, SunnO))), Obituary etc.
