God Seed - Alt Liv

The will to grow. The god within man. The god within nature, and the will to reach one's highest potential.

These are values all embedded in the name of God Seed. God Seed is a Norwegian black metal band based in Bergen, Norway. Former Gorgoroth members Gaahl and King ov Hell adopted the name in March 2009 following the ending of the Gorgoroth name dispute. After perforimg a few gigs as God Seed, vocalist Gaahl left the band in July 2009 and it was put on hold. King finished the music for God Seed's first album, with vocalist Shagrath, and released it under the name Ov Hell. Gaahl re-joined God Seed in 2012. In January 2012 did they released the live album Live at Wacken (live album recorded in 2008), and in October they released their first studio album, I Begin.

What "King" says about the band: "God Seed" represents a more spiritual side to us. "God Seed" represents the will to grow; the will to be the super man, so to speak. I think it's a suitable name for what we will represent in the future. It will challenge the weak minded, but it's all about the same themes we are known from in the past. The God within man, and the God within nature."

The Band Featuring:

King - bass
Lust Kilman - Guitars
Geir Bratland - Keys
Kenneth Kapstad - Drums
Sir - Guitars
Gaahl - vocals

This is the 1st studio record King and Gaahl release together since Gorgoroth`s "Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam"! Read more about God Seed and "I Begin".

Todays tune is God Seed's first music video "Alt Liv" from the new album "I Begin". Produced by Mats Willassen. It was released on October 23, 2012 in North America and on October 30, 2012 in Europe.

Supralunar - People Like Us

A rather cold and rainy Sunday in early November on a site just outside of Stockholm, were the guys in the Supralunar and their loved ones, devoted a day to a movie recording. For it was time to record a video for their latest single "People Like Us".

Me and my daughter N were in place with the cameras in our hands, someone has document the event, because it's not every day you do something like this. Can report that it was a very interesting and eventful Sunday. Lots of pictures were taken, containing everything from excitement to concern activities, guitar jumps and wine spray.

Supralunar out of Stockholm, Sweden first started out in 2000 and had a little buzz going for a few years. The band consisted of Petri Tuulik, vocals and guitar, Andreas Denk, bass and Micke Back, drums. The band quit somewhere around 2005 but in late 2009 they reformed, now with Georgios Vamvatsicos on bass and Johann Enoksson beating the drums.

Supralunar have released a EP that can be found on Spotify and are working on their upcoming debut album

Here are some pictures from the Video Shoot.

So today we present the results of this day, see for yourself!

The Devil’s Blood - Cruel Lover

This weeks Record of the Week is the second full-length studio album The Thousandfold Epicentre by Dutch occult-themed psychedelic rock band The Devil's Blood.

The band formed in Eindhoven, Netherlands 2006 by lead guitarist, lyricist and principle songwriter Selim "SL" Lemouchi. SL's sister, Farida Lemouchi "F. The Mouth of Satan", was asked to join the group after providing vocals for the track “The Graveyard Shuffle”. Their style is rock n' roll flavoured hard rock in the vein of Roky Erickson, Black Widow, Coven, Black Sabbath and a rich plethora of 1960s and 70s undergound psychedelic rock. The group's name is taken after the song "Devil's Blood" by Watain.

Group founder and guitarist SL is heavily influenced by his spiritual beliefs, namely Satanism. In several interviews SL has stated his primary influence in songwriting (and in life) are "the three principalities of Adversity - The Death, The Chaos, and The Satan", stating "That (Satan) is the driving force behind all my creative power". SL has also cited Slash of Guns N' Roses as being influential in his work as a guitarist.

This weeks album was composed over a period of eleven months from January 2010 to November 2010 before it was recorded over a period of two months at Void Studios with longtime producer, engineer, and mixer Pieter Kloos. Several songs were ultimately shortened by a few minutes so that the album length would not exceed the length of a CD. The album is psychedelic visions of spinning flowers and gives you a nice occult journey thru your mind and drifts away on this musical acid trip. All this well wrapped in 1960s - 70s style of undergound rock.

The album was released in Europe on November 11, 2011 through VÁN Records. The album has been released by both labels in CD, LP, and digital download formats. A limited edition version of the album, which includes a 36 page art book, has also been made available through VÁN Records.

The first single "Fire Burning" was featured earlier here on Tune Of The Day!

Iron Maiden - Prodigal Son

The weeks just flying away, then it once again got to be a Sunday and a time for us to present a classic.

Today's song is taken from the British heavy metal band "Iron Maiden's" second album "Killers", it's also the first Maiden album I bought. The album was released on 2 February 1981. The album was their first with guitarist Adrian Smith and their last with vocalist Paul Di'Anno, who was sacked after problems with his stage performance arose due to his alcohol and cocaine use. This was also the first Iron Maiden album made with veteran producer Martin Birch, who went on to produce their next eight albums before retiring after Fear of the Dark in 1992.

Todays tune is the relatively long "Prodigal Son", s the song that really stands out on record, can say that this choice of song would not been back in the time :) Would have chosen someone with some speed in. This tune has lighter mood than many of the other songs on this album, but still has the Iron Maiden sound in the ground. The lyrics is a bit strange, but looks like they have something to say, Paul delivers them very well.

The lineup on this record:

Paul Di'Anno – vocals
Dave Murray – guitar
Adrian Smith – guitar, backing vocals
Steve Harris – bass guitar, backing vocals
Clive Burr – drums

Didn't find any good clip on this tune, sorry.

Destroyer - Kaputt

Last night I received a call to help out a little at a Gig with a band called Destroyer, cool I thought. When the band well got up and tore the first notes, I realized that I had expected was not at all consistent with what was being played, you think ... Destroyer, hard and ruthless, right? I was expecting much harder, like pure out hardcore, but there I got right on the nose. The sound that oozed out of the speakers was something completely different, a mix of soul, blues, folk, consisting of a pure cultivated Indie basis.

Soulful Indie and chamber pop in jazz collagen was offered during the evening at the Strand yesterday, okey actually live, beautiful swing with lots of wind. But now when I shall select a song, I'm completely lost. So I make it a bit easy for me and take the title song from their latest and ninth album "Kaputt", released on January 25, 2011. The vinyl edition of the album features bonus material on side three written largely by frequent Destroyer collaborator Ted Bois. This material is also included in the European CD version of the album credited as 'The Laziest River'.

Destroyer is a Canadian indie rock band from Vancouver formed in 1995 and fronted by singer-songwriter Dan Bejar.

Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child

Swedish House Mafia is a Swedish electronic dance music trio consisting of three house disc jockeys and producers, Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso. The group officially formed in late 2008. The supergroup placed at number ten on the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ Poll 2011 and have been called "the faces of mainstream progressive house music." On June 24, 2012, the group announced via their website that their current tour would be their last together before a hiatus.

The Swedish House Mafia have sold out Friends Arena, 3 days in a row is unbelievable. This means that approximately 150,000 dancing happy people will experience this. At first planning was actually meaning that I would be working on this, but given that my respective are out on tour right now so it did not work properly with the daily puzzle of the rest of the family. But so it is sometimes when both are working in the same industry. So today we offer something that I usually would not do, given that this is not really my cup of tea, but the illegality daughter like this and thought it was suitable for today, so we please all dancers today.

Todays tune "Don't You Worry Child" is a song by Swedish electronic dance group, Swedish House Mafia. It is the sixth and final single released before their indefinite hiatus, featuring vocals from Swedish singer John Martin. In the United States, it is the act's second number-one single on Billboard's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, following "Save the World."

The Rolling Stones - Doom And Gloom

The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed in Dartford in 1962. The earliest settled line-up consisted of Brian Jones (guitar, harmonica), Ian Stewart (keyboards, piano), Mick Jagger (lead vocals, harmonica), Keith Richards (guitar, vocals), Bill Wyman (bass) and Charlie Watts (drums). Since Wyman's retirement in 1993, the band's full members have been Jagger, Richards, Watts and guitarist Ronnie Wood.
