Soen - Savia

 

After reading a review on a band called Soen at my beloved friend "Chief Rebels" blog Metal! I really got hooked, the last few days I've spent a lot of time with Soen. Now i only wish that they will release this one on Vinyl.

Soen is a heavy metal group, a so called "supergroup" consisting of various high-profile extreme metal musicians. Formed by Martin Lopez along with Kim Platbarzdis back in 2005. Their debut album Cognitive was released on February 15, 2012. The album was mixed by David Bottrill (Tool, Coheed and Cambria, Silverchair, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse etc.) and mastered by João Carvalho. There's also a bonus track on the Japanese edition called “Writhen”

Soen's music is "melodic, technical softish light heavy and progressive" there is an stylistic similarities to the music of Tool.

The lineup consisting of former Opeth, Amon Amarth drummer Martin Lopez, former Death, Testament, Sebastian Bach, Iced Earth and Sadus bassist Steve DiGiorgio, former Willowtree vocalist Joel Ekelöf and guitarist Kim Platbarzdis.

Soen was at the Revolver Film Company in Gothenburg the 14th of January recording a music video.

Todays tune "Savia" is their first video, it was posted on their Facebook page on February 2012.
