Soundgarden - Jesus Christ Pose

Soundgarden is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington in 1984 by lead singer Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Matt Cameron became the band's permanent drummer in 1986 while bassist Ben Shepherd became a permanent replacement for Yamamoto in 1990.

5 studio album did they made before they got disbanded. But a new record has been released, "Live on I-5" is a live album and it was recorded during the West Coast leg of their 1996 tour, and released on March 22, 2011. They announced the album, the band's first live album, on their website on January 13, 2011. The title is a reference to Interstate 5, which runs along the Pacific coast of the United States. The band hired Adam Kasper to record several shows with a rented 24-track machine/truck. They planned to release the live album after the tour, but they disbanded and the tapes were left in Studio X (now Bad Animals Studio). A live version of "Blow Up the Outside World" was released to those who pre-ordered Live on I-5 from Soundgarden's official Web site as a download.

On January 1, 2010, Cornell alluded to a Soundgarden reunion via his Twitter, writing: "The 12-year break is over and school is back in session.

On March 1, 2011, Chris Cornell confirmed that Adam Kasper would produce the new upcoming album. Four days later, the band stated it would consist of material that was "90 percent new" and the rest consisting of updated versions of older ideas but not "make another grunge or metal record". They also noted that they had 12 to 14 songs that were "kind of ready to go”.

On June 1, 2011 It was announced that Soundgarden would be the headliner for the VooDoo Experience in New Orleans Halloween weekend 2011

Anyway, todays tune "Jesus Christ Pose”, released in 1991 as the first single from the band's third studio album, ”Badmotorfinger" (1991). The song was included on Soundgarden's 1997 greatest hits album, "A-Sides" and on the latest Live record "Live on I-5”

The band explained that the lyrics for "Jesus Christ Pose" concern the exploitation of religion for personal benefit. The song is a criticism of how public figures use religion (particularly the image of Jesus Christ) to portray themselves as being 'better' than others, or as 'martyrs'. Cornell specifically mentioned Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell as an influence on the song, explaining, "It became fashionable to be the sort of persecuted-deity guy.”

In an interview, Cornell explained the term "Jesus Christ Pose":
You just see it a lot with really beautiful people, or famous people, exploiting that symbol as to imply that they're either a deity or persecuted somehow by their public. So it's pretty much a song that is nonreligious but expressing being irritated by seeing that. It's not that I would ever be offended by what someone would do with that symbol

First out is the official video from 1991
