Rammstein - Du Hast

Rammstein is a German rock band from Berlin, formed in 1994. The band consists of members Till Lindemann (lead vocals), Richard Z. Kruspe (lead guitar and backing vocals), Paul H. Landers (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Oliver "Ollie" Riedel (bass guitar), Christoph "Doom" Schneider (drums and electronic percussion) and Christian "Flake" Lorenz (keyboards). They are widely accepted as part of the Neue Deutsche Härte scene, alongside bands such as Oomph!, Eisbrecher, and Die Krupps. Their sound has been dubbed as Tanz-Metal. Their songs are usually in German, but they have also performed songs entirely or partially in other languages.

Rammstein takes their name indirectly from the German town of Ramstein-Miesenbach, the site of a flight show disaster on 28 August 1988. The band's signature song, "Rammstein", is a commemoration of the disaster. The band has released six studio albums, the latest is called "Liebe ist für alle da", which was released on 16 October 2009.

At the moment Rammstein is out touring and yesterday the tour landed in Stockholm for a show in The Globe, the arena was totally sold out. Rammstein is known for their frequent use of pyrotechnics during live performances. This time the set was made in heavy metal iron foundry look which would incorporate the main stage into the array of lighting pods, collapsing tower blocks and the vast quantity of pyrotechnics which even includes a shower of exploding dolls. The staging mainly consists of platforms with risers that had industrial pipework handrail around. I kinda funny and a bit wired part was the running machine piece that carries keyboard player Flake, which he uses throughout the show, i guess he covering several kilometers :) Overall the show was great and i guess most of the non German fans dont even speak or understand the language, but who cares, you go and see Rammstein for the show.

Rammstein motto "Other bands play, Rammstein burns!"

Todays tune "Du hast" is a song was released as the second single from their second album Sehnsucht. It is also arguably the band's most well known song, with "Feuer frei!" also being said to be their most well known song. The refrain ("Willst du, bis der Tod euch scheidet, treu ihr sein für alle Tage?") translates to "Do you want, until Death separates you, to be faithful to her forever?" Instead of answering with 'ja' ('yes'), the singer says 'nein' ('no'), finally breaking his silence earlier in the song: "Du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab' nichts gesagt." This is in present perfect tense and literally means "You have asked me, and I have said nothing," but is usually translated to past tense, "You asked me, and I said nothing."
